The new AVATR 12 officially competes with Xiaomi SU7, who will you choose?

Recently, the 2024 AVATR 12 has been officially launched, with an official guide price of 265,800-400,800 yuan. A large number of optional configurations and functions on the old model have also become standard in the new car; the new car also adds a model called "700 Triple Laser Rear Drive Intelligent Edition" with an official guide price of 265,800 yuan. In this way, AVATR 12 officially enters the price range of Xiaomi SU7 (215,900-299,000 yuan), and officially competes with Xiaomi SU7.

The models selected for this comparison are the AVATR 12's "700 Triple Laser Rear-Drive Intelligent Edition" and the mid-range Pro version of Xiaomi SU7, which is a rear-drive ultra-long-range high-end intelligent driving version priced at 245,900 yuan. The price difference between the two is 19,900 yuan. Let’s see which one is better in terms of specific configurations.

Model overview: AVATR 12 is larger in size, Xiaomi SU7 has stronger acceleration and battery life

The length and width of the AVATR 12 are larger than that of the SU7, and with almost the same height, the overall body of the AVATR 12 will be more aura and look more imposing. The more streamlined body of SU7 brings a lower drag coefficient (Cd=0.195). The curb weight of SU7 is also 90kg lighter than AVATR 12 (SU7 is 2090kg), which results in longer battery life and faster acceleration performance.

In terms of space performance, in order to pursue a more streamlined shape and lower wind resistance, the rear space performance of SU7 is slightly inferior to that of AVATR 12 (the picture above is AVATR 12, the picture below is SU7). However, when comparing models of the same level horizontally, neither rear row space is the main selling point.

The guide price of AVATR 12 at the beginning of its release was 300,800 yuan, which was higher than the top model of Xiaomi SU7 (299,900 yuan). After the price reduction of the new AVATR 12, AVATR 12 has not shrunk in its smart cabin and smart driving configuration. On the contrary, due to the strong support of Huawei Hongmeng Cockpit and Huawei ADS smart driving, AVATR 12’s smart cabin and smart driving level is still evolving. 

Compared with the Hongmeng car equipped with AVATR, the main advantage of Xiaomi Smart Cabin is the improvement of the IoT ecosystem, which is the ecological advantage of Xiaomi functions. It can call up any Xiaomi device in the home through the vehicle. The Hongmeng cockpit is also quite powerful in terms of vehicle-machine smoothness, ease of use, and handcar circulation. It is worth mentioning that Xiaomi also supports Apple iPad to connect and control the vehicle, and supports wireless Apple Carplay.

In terms of smart driving, on March 28, AVATR 12 launched smart driving NCA that does not rely on high-precision maps, optimizing multiple functions through OTA, including tidal lanes and bus lanes; adding a lateral obstacle anti-collision system ( LOCP). Xiaomi SU7 is equipped with two smart driving solutions, Xiaomi Pilot Pro and Xiaomi Pilot Max. The SU7 Pro version is equipped with Xiaomi Pilot Max smart driving solution.

Battery, chassis: AVATR 12 800V VS Xiaomi SU7 Pro 400V

Although the battery capacities of the two cars are almost the same, Xiaomi SU7 achieves a CLTC endurance performance of 830km with its lower drag coefficient (Cd=0.195). Of course, the AVATR 12 with an 800V architecture is not bad. While the CLTC has a battery life of 700km, CATL’s ternary lithium battery will also have better battery life in winter. The AVATR 12 entry-level version has a maximum fast charging power of 240kW and a fast charging time of 0.33 hours. Although the Xiaomi SU7 Pro version is equipped with a CATL battery, due to the limitations of the 400V electrical architecture, the fast charging speed of the SU7 Pro version is actually less than 3C. In terms of suspension, both low- and mid-range versions do not support air suspension, but the basic suspension specifications are very high, with double wishbones in the front and five-link suspension in the rear.

Summary: The 2024 AVATR 12 has a budget of 19,900 more than the SU7. You can get a larger cabin space, faster overcharging speed, stronger smart driving hardware and smart driving experience. However, Xiaomi SU7 has faster acceleration, longer battery life, more flexible control, and a more affordable price. So which model do you prefer?
